Having just returned back to Los Angeles from Europe, I'm simultaneously loving and hating relying on my car again as my main mode of transportation. Because public transportation (which I loved!) invariably involves walking (yes, a concept almost foreign to southern Californians), which gave me the most painful (painful!) blisters (think crater-like). Having made the mistake of bringing a brand new pair of leather loafers, I ended up spending more than I care to remember on some fancy blister gel bandaids (because I needed, count them, four on each foot, repeatedly). Lesson learned.

Remember Karl Lagerfeld's mock shopping center from Chanel's ready-to-wear fall collection? Chanel-branded food, wine, and other sundry supermarket and household items (black and gold chainsaw, anyone?) Apparently, the big hit of the night - for looters - a "Mademoiselle Privé doormat. (Tug-of-wars ensued).

Well let's talk about those sneakers:

I'm all about the sneakers. Runway, street style. They're everywhere. The New York Times advises that "gym shoe" sneakers are a don't, while "box fresh" is a must, ending with a warning not to get "too comfortable," as in we'll all be wearing heels by next season. (No-o-o!)

RAG & BONE, The Skinny Jean $209; BAND OF OUTSIDERS, Cropped Sleeve Plaid Shirt $325
Fashion sneakers are great for occasional wear (because scuff marks are a no-no, apparently), but yes, I'll gladly go for the "gym shoe" sneaker for any distance longer than what I'd estimate to be the closest street parking spot I'd likely be able to snag on a Saturday morning brunch in L.A.

You'll see some of my favorites, above. Not so bad, no? Eye-catching, fun splashes of color that you can wear with everything from casual boyfriend jeans to dark skinny jeans cuffed at the ankle, and anything you'd fancy on top.
