A little late in the month of July, I realize, for a patriotic 'red, white, and blue' post. But it just so happened that as I was browsing Avenue 32's big spring/summer sale, the pieces that caught my eye were these -- starting with two one-piece swimsuits. One from Araks [7], a coral-colored one-piece that looks quite modest from the front -- that is, until you see the low-cut open back. The other swimsuit by Preen [3], is cut more modestly with a high back, with a flattering 'belt,' while the wonderful floral pattern (vaguely 90's-inspired, right?) keeps things interesting.

Speaking of the 90's, Sophie Hulme's [1] burgundy maxi dress just begs for some chunky heels (maybe keep the slouchy flannel at home). 'Bordeaux' Current/Elliott [10] super-skinny denim that I'd pair with a loose boxy tee for a simple summer look, and a sweater from A.P.C. [4], 100% cotton, appropriate for  cool summer nights -- pair with your favorite denim cut-offs. Another burgundy, or 'oxblood,' pick is from Hussein Chalayan [2], a heavy-knit dress that you'll want to pull out as soon as the weather (and similarly-hued leaves) start turning (it's 70% off!).

More weather appropriate dresses would be a casual striped cotton dress from David Szeto [5], and a monochrome silk dress from Edun [6]. Or go for a more structurally formal skirt, from Antonio Marras [8] -- made of striped blue and white textured cotton. Last, but not least, I'll always want to buy a simple sweatshirt like this BLK DNM [9] version -- particularly this 'ink blue' color. So versatile, yes, even with those Current/Elliott wine-colored jeans (happy belated 4th!).
