Marni Floral Canvas Tote | Floral Market, Spring RTW 2015

Should you drop a few hundred dollars on a tote bag? Marni's coated canvas totes (see editor and stylist, Aurora Sansone holding the 'raspberry' color, above right) will run you close to $400. But that slightly kooky floral print is all kinds of tempting, no? And a good tote bag's strength is its versatility. As in more uses equals excuses (to get one)? Well, see, a nicer one can double as a work bag. Use it for an overnight stay. Or as a gym bag. Lug your water bottle and barre socks in one if you like the smell of a Pop Physique studio. (Sidenote: Have you noticed how the bags are getting nicer and nicer at pilates and barre classes? I blame celebrities using ridiculously expensive designer bags as gym bags.)

[1] Black and pink, Farfetch: $339; [2] Raspberry (pictured in leading photo), Nordstrom: $400, Farfetch: $304; [3] Bluette, Net-a-Porter: $370, Farfetch: $304; [4] Green and black, Farfetch $311; [5] Christophe Joubert print, Nordstrom: $400, MatchesFashion: $341. [Note: Farfetch and MatchesFashion U.S. shipping fees are ~$20-24; no sales tax, however.]
Or on a sunny Sunday morning, walking to the farmer's market, carrying all your essentials plus a light denim jacket in your tote bag. You buy a jar of local honey and some flowers from the Marni Flower Market, quite fitting with your Marni floral tote bag. Okay, admittedly, this scenario could only have happened at Milan Fashion Week this past week. These ladies got their bouquets of flowers at Marni's one day pop-up flower market, which marked the 20th anniversary of the label's inception. Since this gal wasn't invited, let's let style.com describe the scene:
"...inside the colonnaded space a souk-like atmosphere with stands selling live flowers, planters-slash-purses in archival Marni prints, and mini totes stuffed with gardening tools. Homemade cakes and fresh-squeezed juices were on offer, along with brown paper bags holding some particularly tasty spiced nuts."
Oh dear. I might have just died a little from overwhelming jealousy. Those flowers. I just wish there were pictures of the homemade cakes. [See Marni's Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear collection, here.]
