Patagonia Retro-X Fleece

Everytime I go to REI, I think about getting a Patagonia fleece. Why I, a decidedly un-adventurous and part-time homebody, would go to an outdoor sporting equipment store is another story. The fabulously wide selection of energy bars and snacks? I'll go with that. Last time, I did walk out with some delicious turkey jerky. (And that was the entirety of my purchase.)

So, why the preoccupation with Patagonia? T: The New York Times Style Magazine posits in its blog that "the more Patagonia remains the same, the more cool it becomes." Like Birkenstocks, Patagonia conjures up a certain aesthetic, "simple and utilitarian," a "very California ethos," menswear designer Patrik Ervell tells T Magazine. In other words, the hippie aesthetic (if not the lifestyle).

Take a look at the rest of W Magazine's 'Ladies of London' editorial from the October issue, featuring Cara Delevingne along with several of her model cohorts. The styling harkens back to the 70's. And that Patagonia fleece fits right in.
